1/4 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup sour cream
1 small shallot, minced
2 teaspoons cider vinegar
3 ounces Roquefort or other blue cheese, crumbled
Mix all ingredients, salt and pepper to taste.
This one always work well with me... you can use your favorite brand of blue cheese instead of Roquefort if you prefer. Good luck! Enjoy!

Since mayo and sour cream are good bases for blue cheese dressing, it is hard to find it without. It is good to try a combo of them. Here is a recipe.
2 1/2 ounces blue cheese
3 tablespoons buttermilk
3 tablespoons sour cream ---or try using cream cheese
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 teaspoons white wine vinegar
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
salt and freshly ground black pepper
DIRECTIONS
In a small bowl, mash blue cheese and buttermilk together with a fork until mixture resembles large-curd cottage cheese. Stir in sour cream, mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, and garlic powder until well blended. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
