Easy Cheese Ball
A delicious and easy way to enjoy a cheese ball. Serve with crackers and enjoy! You can cut this recipe in half to make a smaller version. You could substitute Colby, mozzarella, or Monterey Jack cheese for the Cheddar the recipe calls for.
* 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
* 1 (1 ounce) package ranch dressing mix
* 2 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
* 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
In a medium size bowl, mash cream cheese. Mix dressing mix and Cheddar cheese into the cream cheese. Shape the mixture into a ball. Roll the ball in the chopped nuts. Refrigerate covered until ready to serve. Yum!
Beer Cheese Dip
Fashion a round loaf of your favorite type of bread into a bowl, and fill it with this smooth, cheesy beer dip. You’ll go back for bite after bite!
* 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
* 2 (8 ounce) packages shredded Cheddar cheese
* 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1/2 cup beer
* 1 (1 pound) loaf round bread
1. Place cream cheese, Cheddar cheese, garlic powder and beer in a large bowl. Using an electric mixer, blend until smooth.
2. Remove and reserve top of round bread. Hollow out the loaf, reserving removed bread pieces.
3. Spoon cream cheese mixture into the hollowed loaf. Replace bread top between servings. Use the reserved removed bread pieces for dipping.
I make this one often and it’s a favorite of mine. Powdered cheese sauce is hard to find, so I use a packet from a cheap box of mac’n cheese then use the noodle for soup later on. Also, it’s very important to make this ahead of time (a day before the party) – the longer it sits the more flavorful it becomes.
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter
1 tablespoon instant Cheddar cheese sauce mix
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons thinly sliced green onion
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 cup chopped walnuts to taste (I always omit this, but you can add it if you like nuts)
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, blend cream cheese and butter or margarine. Stir in cheese sprinkle, Cheddar cheese, green onion, lemon juice and parsley. Shape mixture into 2 large balls or logs, and roll them in the chopped walnuts. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
These Buffalo Chicken Cheese Balls made by Chef Aaron McCargo Jr are scrumptious-I made them last night and they are GREAT! They are great for parties (I’m going to make them for my superbowl party this week) or just to have around for a quick snack.
Buffalo Chicken Cheese Balls
Ingredients
1 store-bought rotisserie chicken
1/4 cup hot sauce (recommended: Frank’s Red Hot)
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 3/4 cups sharp Cheddar
1/4 cup freshly sliced scallions
1 cups all-purpose flour
3 eggs, lightly beaten
2 cups panko bread crumbs
Vegetable oil, for frying
Blue Cheese Dip:
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
1/2 cup packed blue cheese, broken up
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 lemon, juiced
1 teaspoon chopped garlic
Directions
Have oil heated to 350 degrees F.
Pick the meat from the chicken and discard the skin. Place the chicken in a large bowl and add the hot sauce, pepper, cheese, and scallions, and toss to combine. Roll the chicken into 2-ounce balls, about the size of a golf ball.
Place the flour, eggs, and bread crumbs in 3 separate bowls. Roll each ball in the flour, then the egg and then the bread crumbs. Set aside.
When the oil is hot fry the chicken balls in batches. Cook for about 2 minutes per batch. Remove the chicken to paper towel lined plate to drain the excess oil.
To make the sauce, combine all ingredients in a large bowl and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Serve the chicken alongside the dipping sauce.
This is more a spread than a dip, but it’s totally awesome!
2 cups shredded swiss cheese (Jarlsberg cheese is the best, but any swiss will work)
2 cups chopped onion (I like sweet onions)
1 cup mayonnaise (you need to use real mayo, not miracle whip)
Mix together. That’s it. Simple but really tasty. If you like, you can put in a baking dish and bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees. It gives it a completely different flavor, and both ways its very tasty.
