Artisanal Or Import Cheese Shops In San Diego?

Filed in Category Cheese Shops

My husband and I just spent $40 on cheese yesterday at Venissimo in Mission Hills. They have a great selection of cheeses, but there’s a particular one we’re after and they didn’t have it. We’ve already tried all the Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods in the area, as well as Harvest Ranch Market. The Cheese is Mont D’Or and is a particularly runny, nutty-flavored French cheese. Does anyone know of any other import cheese shops in the San Diego area that we could try?

Did you try Aniata Cheese in Del Mar? They have a wide variety of French artisanal cheeses and can probably get what you want. Their phone number is 858-847-9616 and I think they have a website at http://www.aniata.com.
Also, my Major Market can usually find a cheese that I purchase regularly when I’ve asked. Check with the Deli Manager and let them know what you are looking for. They started carrying my champignon brie made in Germany after I requested it.
