Can I Sub Ricotta Cheese For Mayonnaise?

Filed in Category Ricotta Cheese

I have a recipe for Artichoke Dip:
~Canned artichokes
~Green chilies
~Parmesan Cheese
~Mayonnaise
I want to substitute something else for the mayo. Would ricotta cheese work? I think so, but would like to check others’ opinions.
Thanks

It would give it a different flavour, which may or may not end up being good. Best way is to try it and see. You may want to omit the parmesan, since the ricotta will give it a more cheesy flavour.

It really needs the mayo, I have made this for years and love it although calorie wise, not something you want to eat all the time. I think the ricotta is just too much cheese. With the Parmesan and mayo they sort of cancel out the tanginess – (I never thought mayo as tangy but to each her own)The olive olive oil won’t add anything buy extra oiliness.

Try a different recipe . I don’t think is much of a substitution if not mayo, sour cream or plain yogurt. In fact, I can’t imagine a combination of artichokes and green chilies.

    ½ pound Ricotta Cheese
13 ounces Artichokes (Canned) (drained and chopped)
    ¼ pound Romano Cheese
    1 ½ ounces Mayonnaise
    Green Chilies
    To Taste Salt and Pepper
    Mix together and enjoy

No your dip will have a rather grainey texture.
Do 50/50 mayo and sour cream or plain yogurt.
***Is cream cheese also to tangy for you. Use the garic herb seasoned cream cheese.

i actually think it would be good
because Ricotta doesnt really have that bad of a grainy texture like cottage cheese does.
i would say go with the Ricotta
