Does anybody have a recipe for Cheese bread? The kind elementary,middle & high school use to serve with chili?

I remember throughout school, for lunch we would have chil and cheesebread. I want to kno what kind of bread and cheese to use and when to put the cheese on the bread so it’ll just melt on top. help.

    Maybe you went to a more upscale elementary school than I did. Our cheese toast was just that: lightly toasted white bread (of course), with just a bit of butter, topped with a slice of American cheese (more of course) and warmed in the oven for a few minutes. If you were feeling really adventurous, you could use Velveeta, but I think that might get too runny and cheesy unless you sliced it pretty thin. Actually, it’s cold out, and chili and cheese toast sounds good for supper. Thanks!

    Ingredients
    1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
    2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    3/4 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    1 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/2 teaspoon onion powder
    1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
    1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
    1/2 cup half-and-half cream
    1/2 cup milk
    1/3 cup vegetable oil
    Directions
    Preheat an oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan and set aside.
    Mix flour, baking powder, salt, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and Cheddar cheese together in a large bowl. Whisk in half-and-half cream, milk, and vegetable just until blended. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
    Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 35 to 40 minutes. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wire rack.

    Amount Measure Ingredient — Preparation Method

    6 cups Parmesan — grate
    1 cup Dried oregano
    1 cup Dried parsley flakese
    3 cups Butter or margarine — soft
    12 Cl garlic — mince
    3 cups Vegetable oil
    18 Loaves French bread — 1/2? slice
    18 pounds Mozzarella — shred

    Combine parmesan, oregano and parsely; mix well and set aside. In a large
    mixing bowl, beat butter and garlic. Gradually beat in oil until smooth. Spread
    over 1 side of bread. Place with buttered side up in greased large shallow
    baking pans. Top each slice with 1/4 c mozzarella. Sprinkle with parmesan
    mixture. Bake at 400~ for 10 to 12 minutes or until the cheese is melted and
    top is lightly browned. Serving 2 slices per person.
