I make lasagna all the time. Every time I make it it is different. Just use what you have, beef, chicken, turkey – any kind of cheese ( I always use cottage cheese not Ricotta) put in any veggies you have. Don’t try to go by a certain recipe just make your own out of what you like that you already have in your fridge.
I always use cottage cheese in place of the ricotta cheese, and I never use eggs — I think the eggs make the filling more “fluffy” and I like a heavier, stretchy cheese consistency.
If you can’t get any cottage cheese, I’d just use the mozzarella cheese, and use extra if you have it. Any other cheese that you happen to have that is not a strong tasting cheese could also be added. For instance, American cheese, Velveeta, etc. I would not use something like Swiss cheese, blue cheese, or any cheese that would over-power the mozzarella cheese.
i have never used ricotta cheese or eggs for my lasagna….
just make bolognese sauce, the way you always make it and then if you are using precooked pasta then just put it in the oven container, otherwise cook the pasta…
make layers of pasta and sauce and finish with sauce and if you have, spread shredded cheese over it and bake until its melted…
is a great meal, together with some salad
You dont need ricotta, and you only use eggs to bind the cheese,so just put more mozz in and on it,and let cool before serving, the starches help bind like the egg would.
in my lasagna i use mozz and velvetta,no egg or ricotta, and it’s lissous
