How long does it take for blue cheese to go bad?
Filed in Category Blue Cheese
I made a blue cheese salad dressing about a week ago (with olive oil, vinegar, oregano, sugar, and garlic). Two days ago our fridge broke down in the middle of the night and when we woke up found it not working. We moved everything that could be saved to our other fridge. I put the homemade blue cheese salad dressing in there also but am unsure if it is really safe to eat. It looks and smells like it should. Thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

Eh I probably wouldn’t eat a dressing that had been sitting out. In general regular brick cheese doesn’t go bad. Even if it gets moldy you cut off the mold and the rest is fine. Dressing though…don’t trust that.
chuck it
when in doubt throw it out
a dr bill will cost you more
most home made mixes can
cause botulism esp if’
herbs added
if you did not add absorbic acid (vitamin c)
or lemon juice
very dangerous
If the fridge broke down in the middle of the night and you moved everything next morning, everything should be fine. I’ve had power outages and the fridge stayed cool enough for almost a whole 24 hours as long as I didn’t open the door a lot. The garlic in the dressing will go bad long before the cheese, and you’ll certainly smell that.
