I Am Looking For A Restaurant Worthy Mac N’ Cheese Recipe?

Filed in Category Cheese Recipes

My toddler loves to eat mac n’ cheese but only when we are out at restaurants. I have tried almost every variety of Annie’s mac n’ cheese that is out there, but no luck. Do you have a recipe that you are willing to share. Much appreciated.

I think you should look up Paula Deen’s recipe on foodtv.com. It is called Lady & Sons Mac & Cheese. I bet your toddler would love this stuff! If you have trouble finding the recipe, email me, I will gladly help ya
4 cups cooked elbow macaroni, drained
    2 cups grated Cheddar
    3 eggs, beaten
    1/2 cup sour cream
4 tablespoons butter, cut into pieces
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 cup milk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Once you have the macaroni cooked and drained, place in a large bowl and while still hot and add the cheddar. In a separate bowl, combine the remaining ingredients and add to the macaroni mixture. Pour macaroni mixture into a casserole dish and bake for 30 to 45 minutes. Top with additional cheese if desired.

Have you tried Kraft? I personally don’t support Kraft but they make food for kids, especially Kraft Macaroni.

Outback Steakhouse Mac A Roo N Cheese
    12 ounces rigatoni
    ½ pound Velveeta cheese, cubed
    3 T butter
    2 T flour
    ¼ t salt
    1/8 t paprika
    1½ cups milk
Prepare rigatoni using package instructions. Drain and set aside.
In a large saucepan on medium heart melt butter and add flour, stirring constantly. When the mixture thickens add milk, salt, paprika and cheese cubes, stirring constantly until smooth. The sauce should resemble an extra thick cream. A little more milk may be added if too thick.
Pour the drained pasta into the sauce and mix gently but thoroughly.

I do like Kraft Mac and Cheese the best, maybe doctor it up with a TBS or 2 of sour cream and some extra shredded cheddar, and then see if you can find some containers that look like they are from a restaurant to store it in. then the toddler thinks they are getting m&c from their fav restaurant.

For 1 # elbow pasta, cook pasta as directed, and drain. While it is cooking combine the following cheese sauce. This sauce can be used on veggies as well.
In lg saucepan, Begin with 1 c basic bechamel 2 T butter, 3 T flour, 1 c milk, cook on med stirring until it is thick. Melt into it about 6 oz velveeta. When the cheese is melted add 1 and 1 shake only cayenne pepper. You do not want very much, add 1 shake paprika. You can add water only to thin to desired consistency. Serve.
Do not have to bake, but you can make it into a casserole with chunked ham, weiners, and top with homemade bisquits, bake until the bisquits are golden. Be sure to thin the mac and cheese a little more than if you are eating from the pot, because bisquits will cause it to thicken a little more.
This is a very mild and soothing mac and cheese that my kids adored. They would not eat the stuff in the blue box. Me either!
For more adult taste , you can add a shake of tabasco and 1/2 c grated cheddar cheese after the velveeta has melted. Do not heat much after as the cheddar can separate.
