Is Crumbled Blue Cheese Supposed To Be Fuzzy?

Filed in Category Blue Cheese

I know this is a stupid question. I know blue cheese is moldy, however I opened a package of crumbled blue cheese tonight and it seems to have fuzz on it. Is that normal? I don’t remember ever seeing it fuzzy before, but I don’t know how closely I’ve looked before.

If cheese has fuzz on it, it’s bad. Don’t even think about eating it or you can get sick. Even bleu cheese shouldn’t have fuzz. If you just bought the cheese today, take to back to the store with your receipt.

NO, it should not be fuzzy! If it has a sharp ammonia smell, it’s gone bad. Pitch it.
Next time, sore in your freezer and just get out spoonsful when you need it.
