Is Ricotta Cheese Suppose To Have Green Molds In It?

Filed in Category Ricotta Cheese

I just bought a carton today and just now opened it. I noticed there was a particularly big green spot of mold the size of a quarter. Is that normal? I am making lasagna for the first time and have never really use ricotta cheese before. I just bought it today and the expiration date is August 2008.

    no its not
the carton you have bought has not been airtight
there is a problem with the seal and it has gone mouldy
    take it back
it should be white/creamy colour with no other colours or mould on it
    do not eat it

there should never be mold in any kind of food you intend to eat. The seal was probably bad on the container. Do not risk using it.
