Is there such a thing as Cheese for Vegans and do they sell it in stores?

Filed in Category Cheese Stores

If so, under what name do they have it and in what stores is it sold?

Technically, it’s not cheese, as any real cheese has some sort of animal milk in it’s make-up.

I believe there is a form of soy-based imitation cheese product, however.

My friend is a vegan, and he indeed did bring cheese to school to eat thast had no traces of dairy in it.
    - it:s tofu- like cheese, and can be found in compund stores, and other places wal-mart, and grocery stores.

Giving up cheese is difficult for some people. You’ll never find a substitute that is 100% the real deal. They either lack in texture, flavor, or both. I used to enjoy the Follow Your Heart mozzarella, but found that their cheddar tastes oddly like vomit. Then I discovered Daiya, which is probably the absolute greatest food creation for vegans since Red Star Nutritional Yeast. It’s not soy based, so it’s suitable for people who have allergies to soy. It has a near flawless consistency and an amazing flavor. It melts like a dream. It even stretches a bit like real cheese.

Daiya is a bit trickier to find than the Tofutti and Follow Your Heart. You have to buy Daiya at a natural foods store such as Whole Foods.
