My daughter eats so much..?
Filed in Category Grilled Cheese
She is 13months. Doesnt drink much milk. Drinks alot of water. Has 3 meals and a whole heap of snacks. i dont know if im over feeding her? i dont know if how much she is eating is bad. Will she stop when she is full? Is it possible to overfeed her? she is extremely active (like most 1 yo’s.) this is an approximate of what she ate just yesterday. over the WHOLE day WOW! she eats so much!!!! but she only had llike 1 cup of milk. and no matter what i do (we offer her milk every half hour or so ) she wont drink more milk. Over all, she eats healthy. lots of fruit snacks. things are grilled not deep fried, and she drinks a lot of water. This really seems like a lot of food. is it alot of food?? or is this okay? Hey Mama- nah she doesnt nurse. Ive been trying to get her yoghurts daily and some form of cheese. plus some days had milk in her weetbix or scrambled eggs. i figured that would count towards the milk intake so im not too worried. thanks!!
1 scrambled egg and toast (leaving half the toast)
a cheese stick
3/4 banana
Quater of Dad’s cinamon donut (bad yeh i know)
3 small kid size rice cakes with vegemite.
small bowl of yoghurt (like maybe 6tea spoons worth) with some pear in it.
2 oat biscuits (smallish)
a few bite size pieces of rockmelon/honeydew melon and plums.
and for dinner she had some mushroom pasta, half a kebab stick of chicken (like maybe 6bite size pieces) a tiny bit of mashed potato and vegies.
ok then Andie i was just asking the question because obviously i didnt know. to me is seems like she is eating all day long. there is probably somethin i have missed. glad to hear this is a good amount from everyone.
And Blessed – yeah rice milk, someone suggested that not long ago. i might even give that a try. thanks for reminding me

that’s not even all that much?
maybe try pedilite she really does need milk in some form… but kids can and will over eat but if she moving around a lto would not say that is too much but maybe try more balanced meal and 1 snake in between them
As long as her health, weight, and activity level are okay, try not to worry. Babies and kids go through growth spurts when they increase their eating level. Just wait till she’s a teen.
All the best.
That amount is fine. My daughter is 13 months old also and eats a LOT. It could be a growth spurt.
Be happy for the amount she’s eating now because you’ll be begging her to eat when she’s an older toddler. My 2 year old son used to be a great eater but has become SO PICKY. We can never get him to eat! So just let your little one load up because she’ll probably eat less later on.
If you are offering milk, try offering goats milk or rice milk. Cows milk is way fattier and less heathier. Drinking water is always better then anything else when it comes to drinks. I do pat you on the back for not saying you always offer her juice or pops
Food intake, that’s actually not a lot. It does seem like a lot, just because there are so many different things. You could try just offering one thing at a time, that way she isn’t wasting all different kinds of foods. When giving food, give little amounts at a time, she will tell you if she wants more. If she isn’t using words, you can try and teach her baby sign language, it works wonders. Just google baby sign language, it should show you simple hand signals to teach for “food/eat”, “drink”, “more”, “milk”, ect. My sisters day care taught, with the awareness of the parents, baby sign language and now my friend is teaching her 1 year old it.
Best of luck
really its not heaps, it seems like a good amount to me, be glad you have a good eater! I wish I could get my 2 year old to eat that much and overall its very healthy. congrats on having such a great eater!
ETA: young kids seem to always be eating because they graze, they don’t eat huge meals but snack a lot
sounds about right in my experience. mine is a little piglet too — makes me thankful we don’t deal with a lot of pickiness, at least not yet (he has his days but not normally).
don’t feel too bad about the donut either, honestly. a little treat every now and then is fine. mine is eating pudding right now…
does she nurse? mine still nurses and will not drink cow’s milk. if not then I wouldn’t worry — just make sure she’s getting a few servings of dairy a day. yogurt and cheese = servings of dairy. she sounds just fine
It don’t sound to me like she is overeating…
