Need to make it up 2 him: My boyfriend and i have a longish distance relationship,-he lives about two hours?

Filed in Category Gourmet Cheese

i went back last weekend (it was a big plan) and he took me out for a surprise meal to my favourite restaurant, it was lovely but as luck would have it my body chose that day to be horribly ill. I could ahrdly look at my food let alone eat it. I felt awful and still do and was really dissapointed :(

He has managed to get a day offwork next week and has said he’ll pop up for the night, i’ve decided to cook a full three course meal, my main question is can anyone give me any food presentation tips, to make it look really posh and gormet…

for my starter im making goats cheese rarebit. i was wodering what type of salad dressing would go well with this and any type of dressing that will look pretty and taste good.

Any herb garnishes etc….i like the effect of dusting etc, but cnt think of any herbs etc that go with savoury things…

Any tips on making our night in extra special would be welcomed as well.

thanks in advance :)

Well as far as herbs for savory dishes you can always use fresh parsley. If you are making an italian dish fresh basil works too. For mexican dishes cilantro would work. You can swirl the dressing around the edge of the plate to make the salad look pretty. Extra Virgin Olivie oil and Balsamic vinegar make a tasty dressing for salad and chicken dishes. Slice some lemon slices for fish or chicken dishes as a garnish. You could also slice some roma tomatoes as a garnish too.

Since rarebit is usually made with mustard, maybe a dijon vinagrette with oregano for your salad might nice. I would make a simple salad with arugula, red onions, and roma tomatoes.

For garnishes, I think basil or oregano would work.

Chocolate fondue is always romantic with strawberries and bananas. You can even make heart shaped crepes…they sell heart shaped pans. I did that for my fiancee when we got engaged and she LOVED it!
