Substitute For Goat Cheese In Pasta Recipe?

Filed in Category Goat Cheese

I’m wanting to make this angel hair pasta recipe I saw today on Everyday Italian but I can’t stand goat cheese-not even the smell of it! The recipe calls for crumbling it in…anyway, what can I use instead?

You can use any type of cheese that you do like. Goat cheese just became in fashion a few years back. It is a little lower in fat so many recipes were just modified to include goat cheese, while they originally used whatever they had around.
Mozzarella, Ricotta, or any mild cheese such as Gouda will do the trick. If you are looking to stay away from dairy then check out tofu/soy, or rice products.

Feta cheese or blue cheese. The feta cheese is not as strong as other kinds of goat cheese and it is not overpowering.

Try cream cheese or Asiago cheese because FETA cheese IS GOAT CHEESE.

    Mozzarella Cheese or Provolone

For Angel Hair, you want something light. Try Feta; you might wrap it in cheese cloth and hang it overnight to get rid of the moisture. It has a great salty flavor and with the moisture removed you achieve the lightness required to allow the angel hair to retain its identity.

    crumbled bleu cheese

I’m a chef and I hate goat cheese, too. I have to use it all the time (because crazy people like it). I’d try feta or just some shaved pecorino romano (shaved from a block with a vegetable peeler). Don’t know about the rest of the dish, but those are safe bets.

    feta or Gorgonzola

You can try fresh grated parmesan or crumbled roquefort

You can use feta, parmesan or even mozzarella. You don’t have to add cheese if you don’t want to.

I watched that too and have made that dish. You can sub with feta or fresh mozzarella. If using mozzarella, add some fresh basil and pine nuts. YUM
Almost any cheese would be good.
